DDA (Disability Discrimination Act)

The main parts of the 1995 Disability Discrimination Act are:
To prevent discrimination against disabled people accessing services and premises States that disabled people must not be treated less favourably Including physical and mental impairment (inc. sensory impairments) Requires organisations to make reasonable adjustments to avoid ‘substantial disadvantage’ to disabled people States that landlords cannot object to reasonable, physical alterations to business premises to assist disabled staff and customers
